Steps to Root a Rootless Clivia

To root a rootless clivia, it is best to use loose, well-draining soil, and the soil needs to be sterilized before use. You also need to trim the base of the plant flat, then disinfect it and apply charcoal powder. After that, plant it in the soil, with the depth reaching the plant's pseudobulb, and provide good care and management; in about a month it will grow new roots.

Steps to Root a Clivia Without Roots

1. Prepare the soil

To root a rootless clivia, you first need to prepare suitable soil; it is best to use loose, well-draining soil. You can mix leaf mold with a small amount of fine sand. Before use, the soil needs to be sterilized with potassium permanganate first, to prevent the plant from being infected by pathogens, which would cause it to rot.

2. Treat the plant

To root a rootless clivia, you also need to first use sterilized sharp scissors to trim the base of the plant flat, then soak and disinfect it with a fungicidal solution such as carbendazim, and afterward apply a little charcoal powder to the wound to absorb moisture and prevent rot. Only after this treatment can it be planted.

3. Planting and care

Plant the rootless clivia in the soil, with the depth reaching the point where the plant's pseudobulb is covered. After that, firm the soil to hold it in place, then water appropriately to keep the soil slightly moist, and keep the plant in a semi-shaded, ventilated environment; in about a month it will grow new roots.
