Common Diseases of Coral Ardisia and Their Control Methods

In fact, many people have great hopes for a plant's vitality when they grow it, but during the growing process, a lack of knowledge means that many people get less than satisfactory results when growing coral ardisia (Ardisia crenata). Many problems also arise during its cultivation. Today let's talk about the diseases of coral ardisia and their control.

1. Stem rot

In the early stage, this is something we often see: the stems and leaves turn black. When coral ardisia develops stem rot, the main problem is lesions on the stems and leaves. The stems lose water and gradually turn dark brown, and the leaves turn yellow and fall off.

Control method: For stem rot, the soil needs to be disinfected, and chemicals should be sprayed promptly.

2. Root-knot nematode disease

Root-knot nematode disease is a commonly seen disease of coral ardisia. It harms the roots of coral ardisia. Once the roots are infected, root galls appear, the fibrous roots decrease and eventually rot. In mild cases there is not much visible change, but in severe cases the leaves turn yellow and dry up, and the whole plant may even die. It is relatively common in summer.

Control method: For root-knot nematode disease, we need to disinfect the soil at the initial stage of planting. When coral ardisia develops root-knot nematode disease, chemicals should be sprayed promptly, and the diseased plants should be destroyed.

3. Root rot

Root rot mainly harms the roots, but when the disease is severe, the whole plant will die. Generally, root rot breaks out more easily in hot and humid weather. Watch out for underground pests, as they can make the disease worse.

Control method: Generally there is not much of a problem. In normal times, be careful not to let water accumulate, as that can lead to root rot.
