Cultivation Methods for Impatiens

When cultivating impatiens, use loose, breathable, and fertile soil. Before planting, the seeds should first be pre-germinated and soaked. Simply place them in clean water and soak for one day to encourage them to sprout as quickly as possible. When sowing, the spot-planting method can be used, placing three seeds per hole, then covering with soil, watering to moisten, and seedlings will emerge before long. In addition, strengthen management later on, fertilize regularly, and frequently remove weeds to promote more vigorous growth.

1. Prepare the soil

When cultivating impatiens, use loose, well-aerated, and somewhat fertile soil, preferably sandy soil mixed with an appropriate amount of base fertilizer. If planting in the ground, prepare the soil and make beds in advance, and also apply base fertilizer, so that the plants will grow more vigorously later on.

2. Treat the seeds

Before cultivating, first treat the seeds to shorten their dormancy period. The seeds can be placed directly in clean water to soak, for about one day, so that they can absorb a lot of water and sprout faster. After soaking, take them out and dry them in a cool place, and once there is no moisture on the surface, they can be sown.

3. Sowing and planting

Pay attention to the sowing time; it is best to do it in March or April, when the climate is more suitable, which benefits sprouting and later growth. When sowing, the spot-planting method can be used, placing the seeds directly in. Place three seeds in each small hole, and after planting, cover with 2 cm of soil and water to moisten.

4. Later management

As long as the climate and temperature are suitable, the seeds will sprout quickly and grow into seedlings. Pay attention to management during the seedling stage; it is best to apply calcium phosphate once to promote root growth. After the plants mature, also apply decomposed farmyard manure every month to promote vigorous growth. In addition, remove any weeds found to avoid competition for nutrients.
