Orchid growing methods and what soil is best

Orchid growing methods, what soil to use

I. Growing methods

1. Sunlight: the need for light differs across the seasons; a semi-shaded, diffused-light environment suits its growth. It must not be exposed to intense light, but it should still receive a moderate amount to promote growth. In early spring, increase sunlight appropriately, as this encourages growth to sprout; by late spring and summer the light intensity clearly rises, so the sunlight needs to be shaded.

2. Water: the ideal environment is moist but not wet. In spring and autumn, water at intervals of 2-3 days; in summer growth is relatively vigorous, so water every 1-2 days, and also mist the plant to keep air humidity suitable. In winter it enters a dormant state, so water must be strictly controlled, generally watering at intervals of 5-7 days, but there are exceptions: Moran needs more water in winter.

3. Fertilizing: fertilizer does not need to be too strong, otherwise it affects root growth. In June-July, apply 1-2 times a dilute fertilizer, preferably in the evening, and the next day add clear water to dilute it.

II. What soil to use

It has its own requirements for soil choice, because it is not tolerant of wet conditions, so the loam used must not be too sticky and compacted; it is best if it leans acidic. You can mix humus soil with coarse sand, which both retains nutrients and provides permeability.
