How to grow Epiphyllum oxypetalum so it blooms during the day

Everyone knows that Epiphyllum oxypetalum is a plant that blooms at night, and a single flower stays open for only a very short time. After all, the saying "a fleeting epiphyllum bloom" has been around for a long time, and it has long been famous far and wide. But precisely because it is so unusual, it attracts widespread attention from gardening enthusiasts, who even grow it as a houseplant, looking forward to the moment it blooms and ready at any time to catch a glimpse of its beauty.
But the fact that Epiphyllum oxypetalum blooms at night really is not convenient for us to admire. Although its flowers are large and beautiful, its bloom time differs greatly from our nighttime sleep and rest schedule. We cannot delay our nighttime sleep just to admire its flowers, thereby affecting the next day's study and work, right? In fact, enthusiasts who are familiar with its growth patterns usually have a way to make it bloom during the day.
The blooming of Epiphyllum oxypetalum is often strongly affected by light, so we can change its blooming time by adjusting the light period, and this method is not difficult. First, when we see flower buds appear and begin to tilt slightly upward, promptly move the potted plant to a dark indoor place, or cover it with an opaque plastic bag.
Then let it stay in a lightless environment for about 12 hours, after which we move it out again and place it in a lighted environment. After Epiphyllum oxypetalum goes through the process of alternating darkness and light, we then provide it with a well-ventilated growing environment. It is best to adopt the practice of reversing day and night. Generally, after alternating continuously for 4-6 days, it can bloom during the day.
Specifically, it is recommended to wait until its flower buds begin to tilt upward, then start shading it from 8 in the morning, for about 12 hours. Then from 8 at night to 8 the next morning, provide it with light throughout the night. Each time you alternate between giving light and shading, open the window for ventilation for about 1 hour during the process. If you continue this alternation for 4-6 days, it can successfully bloom during the day.
