How to remedy clivia root rot

1. Prepare new soil

When clivia develops root rot, it is mostly because something has gone wrong with the potting soil. Whether the soil itself has poor aeration and drainage, causing the root rot, or improper routine care has led to waterlogging or fertilizer buildup in the soil, causing the root rot, the old soil is no longer suitable for its growth. Therefore, you need to mix leaf mold and river sand into a new potting soil with good aeration and high fertility to replace the old soil.

2. Remove from the pot and prune

Use a small trowel to loosen the soil in the flower pot and take the plant out of the soil. Then use scissors to prune the abnormally growing parts on it. Whether yellow leaves or rotten roots, they all need to be cut off. After cutting, soak it in disinfectant water for 20 minutes, or apply a layer of disinfectant medicine to the cuts, to prevent infection by pathogens.

3. Replant

Take the old soil out of the flower pot and spread a thin layer of new soil on the bottom of the pot. Then gently place the plant in the center of the flower pot, hold it upright with one hand, and fill the pot with soil with the other hand. When the soil surface reaches about half the height of the pot, lift the plant up gently, then fill in the remaining potting soil, so that all of the plant's roots are below the soil surface. After filling, firm the soil surface and care for it slowly.
