To grow a Peace Lily tree, you need to learn its propagation methods, so your home stays green all year round

The Peace Lily tree (Cinnamomum kotoense) is a plant that everyone loves. Keeping one at home makes your home evergreen all year round, and it looks great placed on a desk or in the living room. If you want another one, many people buy one at the flower market, while others propagate their own at home. So how do you propagate a Peace Lily tree?

Propagation by seed

Many people may not know that the Peace Lily tree can be propagated by seed. The seeds produced after the Peace Lily tree blooms can be used for propagation. When propagating by seed, it is best to do it in autumn, around September.

1. The seed propagation method is to take out the seeds and soak them in warm water, which can increase the germination rate of the Peace Lily tree.

2. Place the soaked seeds on a sand bed, then cover them with straw or similar material. Note that the straw must be moist, and the sand bed must also be kept moist. After about a month, they will germinate.

3. Once the Peace Lily tree has sprouted and grown 5 or 6 leaves, transplant it into a suitable flower pot.

Propagation by cuttings

Besides seed propagation, the Peace Lily tree can also be propagated by cuttings, and cuttings are relatively simpler. Cutting propagation is generally best done in summer, when the survival rate is higher, though it can also be done in spring. For cuttings, you just need to find relatively thick, sturdy branches and cut them off. You can dip them in a little rooting powder, which helps the Peace Lily tree root better and increases the survival rate of the cuttings. Then insert them into prepared soil, pay attention to care, and before long they will take root and grow new shoots.

If you want to propagate a Peace Lily tree relatively quickly in everyday situations, choosing the cutting method is faster. Seed propagation takes a relatively long time, so many people don't use it much. But if you're not in a hurry to propagate, or if the season happens to be right, you can choose seed propagation.
