Pig's neck red and swollen, panting and dying? Vaccine prevention is simple (2)
Swine pasteurellosisprevention and control

To prevent swine pasteurellosis, first adjust the sanitation, temperature and humidity of the pig house to a suitable state to reduce stress. Swine pasteurellosis may look serious, but prevention is relatively simple, and vaccination is a very effective means of prevention.

Vaccine: There are two types of swine pasteurellosis vaccines on the market, one is aluminum hydroxide bacterial vaccine, and the other is an oral attenuated vaccine. The more commonly used one is the aluminum hydroxide bacterial vaccine. After weaning, pigs are injected according to the instructions (most commonly 5 ml per pig). Immunity develops 14 days after injection, and the immune period is 9 months. There are standalone swine pasteurellosis vaccines, as well as swine erysipelas-pasteurellosis aluminum hydroxide bivalent vaccine, or swine fever-erysipelas-pasteurellosis attenuated trivalent vaccine, etc. that can be selected. For the oral attenuated vaccine, follow the instructions, dilute it with cool boiled water, add it to the feed according to the number of pigs each bottle is meant to feed, mix thoroughly, and let the pigs eat it. After use, immunity develops in the pigs' bodies within 7 days, and the immune period is 10 months. The oral vaccine can only be taken orally and cannot be used for injection.

Sows are immunized twice a year, usually in spring and autumn. Sows about to give birth and lactating sows are temporarily not injected. Within 7 days before and after injection of this vaccine, antibacterial drugs cannot be used.

Prevention andtreatment: For the pig herd, penicillin, streptomycin, tetracyclines or sulfonamides can be used for health prevention. If this disease occurs, first isolate the affected pigs and strictly disinfect the whole farm. If no new diseased pigs appear after 2 days, vaccinate the whole herd. Affected pigs can be treated with penicillin-streptomycin, doxycycline, sulfonamides, florfenicol and other drugs fortreatment。

Atreatmentplan I often use is: injection of florfenicol + doxycycline. These two drugs have a synergistic effect, and their combined use enhances efficacy. They work quite well against respiratory diseases such as swine pasteurellosis, pleuropneumonia, and mycoplasma pneumonia, and are worth trying.

Summary: A high-temperature, high-humidity environment is the trigger for most diseases. To raise pigs well and have them get sick less, improving the environment is an important task. At present, somepig farmershave a mentality of being overly fearful. As long as there is a disease with high fever and redness, they all call it "African swine fever." Of course, there are also some people with ulterior motives who add fuel to the fire. We must maintain vigilance against African swine fever, and at the same time maintain basic rationality. When encountering problems, analyze them in detail and do not lose our composure.
