Can Clivia be repotted without changing the soil?

When repotting Clivia, it is fine not to change the soil, and you can add some potting soil for planting. However, it is recommended to change the soil at the same time as repotting, as this provides new nutrients. When repotting, prepare new soil, which you can buy or mix yourself, take the plant out and plant it into a new flower pot, then fill in soil around it. Note that before repotting, you need to stop watering.

I. Whether it is possible

When repotting Clivia, it is fine not to change the soil, and you can add some potting soil on that basis for planting. However, we generally recommend that when repotting, it is best to change the soil, as this can provide new nutrients for its growth and is more suitable for the plant's growth. Also, it generally uses leaf mold soil, and if it has not been changed for a long time, the air and water permeability may be reduced.

II. Methods for repotting and changing the soil

1. Buy special nutrient soil, or mix it yourself at home; you can add pine needles and coal cinder to leaf mold soil, and planting with this also gives very good results.

2. Take the plant out of the original flower pot, doing so gently so as not to damage the plant's root system, then shake off the soil on it and trim the old roots.

3. After preparations are complete, hold the plant upright with your hand and plant it into the flower pot, then fill in soil around it, making sure to press it firm.

III. Precautions

Before repotting and changing the soil, you need to stop watering the plant for a period of time. For smaller flower pots, stop for 7 to 10 days; for larger flower pots, the stopping time needs to be longer.
