What to Do When Clivia Gets Leaf Spots? Causes and Solutions

What should you do when Clivia gets leaf spots?

When spots appear on Clivia during care, you need to treat the cause accordingly. If the potting soil is unsuitable, replace the soil promptly; if the light is too strong, shade it, and if there is not enough light, add light; if you have watered too much, reduce watering, and if you have watered too little, add water; if there is too much fertilizer, water to dilute it, and if there is too little, fertilize promptly; also pay attention to disease prevention and control and maintaining a ventilated environment.

1. Replace the potting soil

If the soil of Clivia is too wet, its roots will remain in a damp environment for a long time, breeding bacteria and causing spots; and if the soil lacks nutrients and is unsuitable for Clivia's growth, it will also cause spots to appear. Replace the soil it is planted in promptly, choosing a new, loose, fertile, slightly moist soil for planting.

2. Pay attention to light. When Clivia receives direct sunlight for a long time or is kept in a dark place without sunlight for a long time, what causes this? You need to promptly pay attention to light care. If the sunlight is too strong, move it to a cool, ventilated area for care; if it lacks sunlight, place it in an area with scattered sunlight to receive sufficient sunlight.

3. Water appropriately

Too much watering causes water to accumulate in the pot, and the roots of Clivia rot and start to develop spots, while too little watering also causes Clivia to lack sufficient water for growth, resulting in spots. Water and care for it promptly. If you have watered too much, pay attention to reducing watering and just keep the soil slightly moist; if you have watered too little, water promptly to replenish moisture.

4. Fertilize reasonably. Clivia needs sufficient nutrients to grow during its growth process, but too much or too concentrated fertilizer will burn its roots and cause black spots, while too little fertilizer will cause malnutrition. Pay attention to reasonable fertilization. If too much fertilizer is applied, water to dilute it and make the nutrient concentration weaker; if too little fertilizer is applied, fertilize promptly, and note to apply light fertilizer frequently.

5. Disease prevention and control. Spots on Clivia may also be because it has contracted leaf spot disease, causing spots to appear on the leaves, so disease prevention and control must be carried out promptly. First remove the diseased leaves, then spray a carbendazim solution or chlorothalonil solution for sterilization and disinfection, and do a good job of disease prevention and control.

6. Maintain ventilation

When Clivia grows in a poorly ventilated environment, air has difficulty circulating, which easily leads to bacterial growth, causing Clivia to become infected with bacteria and develop spots. Do a good job of ventilation promptly, trim its leaves and place it in a ventilated area, so that Clivia can grow better in a ventilated environment with air circulation.
