How to save curled orchid leaves and restore them to normal

Curled orchid leaves may be caused by a root infection with pathogens; in that case, take the plant out of its pot, then wash and trim the roots, put it into a new pot, and sprinkle some quicklime on top. It may also be caused by fertilizer that is too strong or nutrients that are unbalanced; in that case, flush with water and adjust the type of fertilizer. It may also be caused by not watering for a long time; in that case, replenish water in time.

1. Clean the roots

Specific cause: It may be that the roots have been infected with pathogens, causing the plant's roots to rot, and then the leaves curl.

Solution: If handled in time, it can still be saved. First take the plant out of the pot. Rinse the roots clean with clear water. Then trim, cutting away completely the rotted roots and the dried-out roots. After that, place it in a shady spot to dry, then disinfect it with a disinfectant solution. Prepare new growing medium, preferably orchid soil. Repot the plant, then sprinkle a layer of quicklime on top. After that, pay special attention to watering: once every two days in summer, and about once a week in winter.

2. Change the fertilizer

Specific cause: It may be that the concentration of fertilizer applied was too high, causing fertilizer burn, which leads to curled leaves. It may also be that the nutrition is unbalanced, with emphasis on only one kind of fertilizer.

Solution: If it is fertilizer burn, then you need to first flush away the excess fertilizer with water. After that, pay attention to diluting it, do not use too high a concentration, and you can water once after fertilizing. If it is a case of unbalanced nutrition, then you can adjust the types of fertilizer used and use a fertilizer with balanced nutrition.

3. Replenish water in time

Specific cause: The plant has not been watered for a long time, and the leaves lack water. If the light is also strong, then this will cause curling.

Solution: Replenish water in time. If the light is also very strong, then move its position.
