Kalanchoe fertilization methods, what fertilizer is best

I. Fertilization timing

The root system of the kalanchoe is not very developed, so its tolerance for fertilizer is poor; just fertilize moderately as usual. When repotting, you can apply a small amount of base fertilizer. During the normal growing season, you can apply supplementary fertilizer, and during the flowering period you also need to use some extra fertilizer.

II. Types of fertilizer

For the base fertilizer, you can choose a slow-release fertilizer, which releases its effect gradually. For supplementary fertilization during the growing season, you can use a foliar fertilizer; in addition, during the flowering period mainly supplement phosphorus fertilizer, such as monopotassium phosphate and so on.

III. Fertilization methods

1. Slow-release fertilizer can be buried in the soil, so that it will slowly exert its own effect, and generally fertilizer burn will not occur. The foliar fertilizer used for supplementary fertilization can be sprayed directly on the surface of the leaves, making the leaves look glossier and better looking. When using monopotassium phosphate, pay attention to the concentration; it can be around one part per thousand.

2. The frequency of fertilization also needs to be controlled. Repotting can be done about once every two years, and at that time apply slow-release fertilizer. Foliar fertilizer can be applied about once every two weeks. The monopotassium phosphate used during the flowering period should be applied once a week until it blooms.

IV. Precautions

If the surrounding temperature is unsuitable, then do not fertilize; specifically, when the temperature is above 30°C or below 5°C, it is not suitable to fertilize.
