How to grow orchids and what soil they need

Orchid growing can be divided into two methods: sowing and division. Sowing is generally done in spring; first prepare a flower pot with drainage holes, then scatter the seeds and cover them with a thin layer of soil. Division involves taking the plant out of its original pot, then cutting apart the root system with scissors and transplanting each part separately. Leaf mold mixed with river sand and charcoal can be used as the soil.

I. How to grow them

1. Sowing: generally choose spring, when the surrounding climate and environment are more suitable and the chance of survival is much greater. A suitable flower pot is quite helpful for later growth; it does not need to be too large, so you can choose a smaller one, with a material that is breathable and drains well, and the bottom must have drainage holes. After washing your hands clean, scatter the seeds and cover them with a thin layer of soil. Wait for the seedlings to grow. Create a suitable temperature for them; 18 to 24 degrees Celsius is very suitable, and make sure the day-night temperature difference is around 7 degrees.

2. Division: this is the most common growing method and can be done in both spring and autumn. Tilt the flower pot and slowly take the plant out of its original pot, removing the surrounding old soil. Neaten the root system, then cut it apart with sharp scissors, being careful not to damage the roots, and then transplant each part separately.

II. What soil is needed

It has its own requirements for the growing soil. You can specially buy soil suitable for it, or you can use leaf mold mixed with river sand, charcoal, etc., which also works very well.
