How to handle rain lilies after they finish blooming? A detailed guide to post-bloom care

Rain lilies (Zephyranthes) originate from the tropical regions of the Americas. They have traits other plants lack: they are not afraid of the heat of summer, nor of the battering and washing of wind and rain, making them very suitable for planting in gardens and courtyards. When not in bloom, they look like overgrown weeds, but once they flower, they become the most eye-catching sight in the yard.
How to handle rain lilies after they finish blooming
The blooming period of rain lilies is from May to October, during which they bloom 5 to 6 times, each time opening in succession. Before the next batch blooms, if you notice signs of decline in the previous batch of flowers, remove them promptly, as this helps extend the blooming time. After the flowers fade, you can also dig out the bulbs and transplant them into other pots, with 3 to 5 bulbs per pot. When digging out the bulbs, be sure not to damage the roots. If a bulb has many leaves, you can cut off the entire upper half of the leaves, so that by the next blooming period, you can easily end up with two full pots of flowers.
Notes on the blooming period of rain lilies
In fact, rain lilies have extremely strong vitality. They are not afraid of harsh sun, nor of high temperatures and intense heat, and even less of the beating of wind and rain. Their blooming period arrives after wind and rain, which further proves their vitality. So when growing them, place them outdoors as much as possible. Before and after the blooming period, there is no need to pay any special attention; just maintain normal care, then quietly wait for a spell of wind and rain as spring turns to summer. After the wind and rain comes the moment we have long awaited: the flowers in full bloom.
If lazier friends want to grow a few pots of plants to enjoy the flowers, it is highly recommended to grow a few pots of rain lilies. The blooming period is long, the flowers are vivid, and most importantly, they fit the definition of lazy: they do not need much careful attention.
