What to Do When Small Poisonous Mushrooms Grow Wild in a Pothos Pot
Fairy Inkcap
When growing pothos (Epipremnum aureum) indoors, many small mushrooms appeared around the roots. Parting the pothos leaves, the pot was packed densely with mushroom caps. I do not know whether they will affect the pothos's growth?
The answer, of course, is yes.
This small mushroom is commonly known as the fairy inkcap, a relatively common poisonous fungus. The reason these small mushrooms grow in the pothos pot is that its base soil contains cottonseed hulls, rice husks and other humus that has not fully fermented. In a dark, damp, high-temperature environment, this kind of soil is especially prone to repeatedly growing these small mushrooms. Apart from being unsightly, their impact on the pothos's growth is very limited. If you want to eradicate them, you only need to have a professional replace the soil.
