Causes and solutions for rot in the central leaves of a clivia

What to do when the central leaves of a clivia rot

When the central leaves of a clivia rot, it is mostly caused by water accumulating in the leaf core. First place the plant in a shaded spot, then remove the rotten parts, and at the same time apply terramycin powder around the wound to prevent mold from continuing to grow. Once the plant has recovered, slowly pour water into the pot from the edge of the pot to prevent a second outbreak.

1. Cut out the affected parts

Rot in the leaf core of a clivia may be caused by water flowing into it during watering, which then breeds mold in the leaf core. At this point, first place the plant in a shaded spot, then use a sterilized blade to cut out the rotten parts, and wipe away the sap flowing from the wound with clean paper towels or cotton. Sprinkle some terramycin powder near the leaf core, then place it in a ventilated spot for care.

2. Water correctly

Once the plant has recovered, it needs to be placed in bright indirect light for care. When watering, try not to spray water or water from above; instead, slowly pour water into the pot from the edge of the pot, and do not let splashing water droplets get into the leaf core.
