How Should Gladiolus Be Grown

Light: During care, provide full-day sunlight, at least 14 hours a day, so the flowers bloom more vibrantly. Temperature: Provide an environment between 25°C and 35°C, and control the temperature in winter and summer. Watering: Neither too much nor too little, otherwise growth will be affected; keep the soil moist but not waterlogged. Soil: Use fertile, loose, slightly acidic soil that also drains well.

I. Light

It is very light-loving. During care, provide full-day sunlight, with at least 14 hours of light exposure per day; only then can it bloom normally. If light is insufficient, the number of blooms will decrease, and it will also be prone to various diseases.

II. Temperature

During care, it is best to provide an environment between 20°C and 35°C. It has poor cold tolerance, so in winter pay attention to temperature control to avoid frost damage. However, if the summer temperature exceeds 35°C, also pay attention to cooling it down promptly, otherwise the flowers will be scorched.

III. Watering

When growing it, pay attention to the amount of watering; neither too much nor too little. Too much water easily causes waterlogging and root rot; too little water and drought easily make the leaves yellow and wilted, lacking vitality. Watering is best determined by the weather: in summer, water and spray more; after the temperature drops in autumn, control watering.

IV. Soil

When growing it, use fertile, loose, slightly acidic soil. It must not be alkaline or too heavy with clay, which would seriously affect growth. In addition, drainage must be good, and during the growing period there must be no soil compaction, otherwise it will affect the flowering effect.
