How to mix nutrient soil for clivia?

How to mix nutrient soil for clivia. Clivia is a perennial herbaceous plant with fleshy roots. The growing soil requires well-rotted material, looseness, water and air permeability, water and fertilizer retention, rich nutrients, no harmful substances, pathogens or pests, and slight acidity with a pH of 6-7. However, no single soil can possess all these conditions at the same time. This requires using multiple materials, mixed in certain proportions, to prepare clivia growing soil for cultivation.

At present, the main materials suitable for preparing clivia growing soil are: ① Leaf mold. It includes two types: broadleaf soil and coniferous soil. It is loose and airy in texture, rich in organic matter, and acidic or slightly acidic. ② Garden soil. It has relatively high fertility and good granular structure, but the surface layer easily becomes compacted, and water and air permeability are poor. ③ Peat soil or turf soil. Rich in organic matter, light and loose, air- and water-permeable, water- and fertilizer-retentive, and acidic. ④ Mountain soil. Loose and light, air- and water-permeable, fertilizer- and water-retentive. ⑤ Pond mud. Relatively hard in texture, with good drought resistance and waterlogging tolerance. ⑥ Cinder. Light, loose, porous, contains phosphorus and potassium nutrients, easy to collect, preferably bean-sized. ⑦ River sand. Pure in texture, drains smoothly, neutral, preferably sorghum- or millet-sized.

According to clivia's soil requirements and the properties of the above materials, the following methods for preparing clivia growing soil are recommended for growers to refer to and choose from: ① 8 parts leaf mold, 1 part cinder, and 1 part river sand. ② 4 parts garden soil and 4 parts leaf mold, with 2 parts cinder or river sand. ③ 6 parts peat soil, 2 parts river sand, and 2 parts cinder. ④ 4 parts mountain soil and 4 parts leaf mold, with 2 parts river sand. ⑤ 4 parts pond mud and 4 parts leaf mold, with 2 parts cinder or river sand, or 1 part of each.

After several materials are mixed evenly, use steaming, frying, selenium, or other methods to sterilize and kill insects (eggs), or disinfect with potassium permanganate solution, or pour boiling water through thoroughly. After drying, sieve or screen it. The coarser part on top is used as a drainage layer, and the finer part below is used as growing soil. The above is an introduction to how to mix nutrient soil for clivia.
