Reasons why clivia grows well but does not bloom and how to solve them
Clivia is a very common flowering plant. Kept at home, it can both purify the air and fill the home with vitality. But many people find that when they grow clivia, even after keeping it for a long time, with the leaves growing luxuriantly, for some unknown reason it just never blooms, which is very frustrating. So what is going on when clivia never blooms?
Lack of fertilizer
Plant growth cannot do without the help of fertilizer. If you do not give it enough fertilizer during normal care, it may affect the plant's growth. And if clivia grows very well but simply does not bloom, it is very likely due to a lack of phosphorus fertilizer. This is because phosphorus can promote rooting, sprouting and flowering in plants, so when phosphorus fertilizer is lacking, clivia easily ends up only growing vegetatively without blooming. Therefore, at this point you can apply a little phosphorus fertilizer, and after a while the clivia will bloom continuously.
Possibly insufficient light
Light is an essential condition for plant growth, but different plants have different requirements for light. Clivia likes diffused light, so during normal care you can simply place it in a brightly lit spot. However, if the light is too weak, the growth of the clivia will be affected, and flowering will naturally be affected too, so it will not bloom. Therefore, clivia should be given sufficient light, though of course in summer, when the light is fairly intense, you should pay attention to providing appropriate shade.
Insufficient watering
Insufficient watering is also one of the reasons clivia does not bloom. During normal watering, if you water too little or too much, the clivia will not grow particularly well. Or it may grow well but still not bloom. So when watering, generally in spring water once a day, in summer water a little more, in autumn water about once every two days, and in winter watering once a week is enough.
Problems with the potting soil
Potting soil is essential for clivia growth. When growing clivia, people generally use soil with good air permeability and sufficient nutrients, but if the soil is not changed for a long time, problems may arise with the potting soil, such as a lack of nutrients, soil compaction in the pot, and so on. These problems will all prevent clivia from blooming. Therefore, when growing clivia, it is best to change the potting soil once a year, so that the clivia can grow and bloom better.
