Don't Panic If Your Orchid's Leaves Turn Yellow: Find the Cause and Save It in Time
When yellow leaves appear on an orchid, it may simply be that the plant is struggling to adjust to a new living environment. There is no need to worry too much in this case, as long as you provide normal care. Improper lighting is also a cause of this situation, so provide sunlight correctly according to the season or growth stage. Failure to water the plant properly is another cause, so water according to the plant's daily needs.
1. Inadaptability to the Environment
Cause: If the orchid was just bought and planted, it may struggle to adjust to its living environment, which affects the plant's ability to absorb nutrients, and the leaves will naturally turn yellow as well.
Solution: There is no need to worry too much when this happens. As long as you provide normal care, it will be fine once the plant adapts on its own.
2. Improper Lighting
Cause: If some plants are growing fairly normally but their leaves turn yellow, this generally indicates that the light is too intense. If the plant stays in a particularly dark environment for a long time, its growth will become very weak.
Solution: Provide light correctly. In summer, shade the plant in time to prevent the light from being too intense and scorching the leaves. In autumn and winter, you can appropriately increase the amount of light.
3. Improper Watering
Cause: During cultivation, watering too much causes water to start accumulating inside, keeping the medium wet for a long time, and newly grown tender leaves turn dark yellow. Failing to supply the needed water for a long time will also cause the plant to turn yellow.
Solution: Water promptly and correctly according to the plant's normal daily needs.
