Does the clivia always run into trouble after repotting? That is because you do not know how to repot it

First, choose an appropriate time for repotting. Clivia is generally repotted in autumn and spring. Repotting in spring can ensure that the clivia does not suffer from diseases in summer and passes the summer safely. In autumn, it can enable the clivia to produce high-quality flowers in spring.

Second, prepare a special soil mix for clivia. Soil suitable for clivia growth can be mixed in the following proportions: choose six parts leaf mold, two parts river sand, one part plant ash, and one part fertilizer. Before planting, the new soil can be treated with 1‰ carbendazim or thiophanate-methyl, or the clivia soil can be fumigated at high temperature.

Third, the choice of flower pot. When choosing a flower pot, we must choose a pot specially made for clivia. This is because the special clivia pot is relatively deep, which matches the growth characteristics of the clivia root system. In addition, the special clivia pot has a relatively large bottom hole, and there are also ventilation holes on the sides of the pot. Because such a pot has very good air permeability, it is beneficial to the growth of clivia. The size of the flower pot can be chosen as follows: when we place the clivia root system into the pot, a gap of about 1 cm between the pot wall and the root system is enough.

Fourth, the process of repotting clivia. Choose the timing of repotting when the clivia needs watering. First, use a tile piece or old stockings to cover the drainage hole of the clivia flower pot, then spread a 2 cm thick layer of coarse ceramsite, or relatively coarse leaf mold, at the bottom of the pot to facilitate drainage and air permeability. The gaps between the clivia roots should be filled firmly with soil. After the clivia is placed in the pot, soil can then be added around the pot. The new soil should be added in several batches, adding only a small portion each time, then pressing it firmly with your hands before adding new soil, until the flower pot is filled.
