The ideal time to repot a clivia is right after the Start of Autumn.

Repot your clivia after the Start of Autumn.

After the Start of Autumn, the weather turns cooler, the clivia's dormant period ends, and it gradually enters its growing season. Every year at this time, the clivia should be repotted.

Repotting serves two purposes: first, the clivia seedling has grown, and the small pot can no longer accommodate the development of its root system, so it should be moved to a slightly larger pot with fresh growing medium. Second, the clivia seedling has grown in its original pot for a year, and the nutrients in the potting soil are nearly depleted, so fresh growing medium should be used to ensure a supply of nutrients.

When changing the soil, use fertile, loose soil with good aeration; sticky soil that easily compacts should not be used. After early October, the clivia can be moved indoors for care, and from then until April of the following year it can be given full sun. Sufficient sunlight can greatly increase the accumulation of nutrients, which is very beneficial for flowering. If the soil has sufficient fertility, no additional fertilizer is needed. If the nutrients are insufficient, apply liquid fertilizer once every half month. Do not water too much; simply keep the potting soil moist at all times.

In winter, the air in the north is dry, so the leaves should be misted frequently to increase humidity. If conditions permit, you can create a small environment for the clivia with a relative air humidity of 60% to 80%. Clivia is neither cold-tolerant nor fond of high temperatures. After bringing it indoors, keep the indoor temperature at 16°C to 24°C, and do not let it drop below 12°C. When the room temperature is low, never place the clivia next to a stove to bake or beside a radiator to warm it.
