How to grow clivia well in autumn and winter

Clivia is one of the most common potted plants in the home, with broad leaves, a deep green and glossy leaf color, and bright flowers at the top, giving it high ornamental value. After the Start of Autumn, clivia enters its vigorous growth period, so what should be done to let it grow vigorously?

Repotting

If the clivia at home was not repotted in spring, it can be repotted in autumn, which not only gives the roots better space to grow, but also makes the soil more fertile, letting it grow better. When repotting, the old roots and rotten roots can be trimmed, disinfected, and then repotted.

Watering

Clivia has already entered its growth period in autumn, and at this time the amount of watering should be appropriately increased; you can wait until the soil is slightly dry and then water thoroughly. If tap water is used, it can first be left standing in a basin for about 1~2 days, and watered once the water temperature is almost the same as the soil temperature.

Light

Clivia itself is relatively fond of light, but in summer it needs some shade, so in autumn it can be moved to a place with more sufficient light. However, it cannot be placed directly in a spot with relatively strong light all at once; it needs to be gradually moved into the sun, which will let it differentiate flower buds and bloom more flowers.

Fertilizing

As mentioned above, autumn is exactly the vigorous growth period of clivia, and at this time it needs sufficient nutrients. A liquid fertilizer containing phosphorus and potassium can be applied once every half a month, and after the flower scape emerges, stop fertilizing, which will make the flowers larger and the flower color more brilliant.
