Can chicken manure be used to grow orchids?

Chicken manure pellets are very suitable as fertilizer for growing orchids, and chicken manure is rich in organic matter and minerals. It can be counted as a slow-release fertilizer, with a long-lasting effect, but it should not be used too much.

Although chicken manure is a very good organic fertilizer for orchids, especially as a nitrogen fertilizer, chicken manure contains relatively many pathogens and bacteria and cannot be applied directly.

It needs to be fully composted and fermented before use, otherwise it will burn the roots. Even if it has been fermented, it still cannot be used too much. First put a layer of potting medium at the bottom of the orchid pot, then sprinkle a layer of chicken manure, then cover with another layer of potting medium. Just do not let it come into direct contact with the orchid roots when planting.

To ferment chicken manure, you can put it in a plastic bag and seal it for two to three months. During this period, turn it several times to make the chicken manure ferment more thoroughly. After it is fully fermented and decomposed, it can be used.
