Pest and disease prevention and control of Clivia nobilis

It belongs to the Amaryllidaceae family, and its main distribution area is southern Africa, which is also its place of origin. In China, it is also fairly widely distributed in Hubei Province and Beijing. At present, with the development of technology, this plant can already be artificially introduced and cultivated. Today we will mainly introduce its pest and disease problems.

Diseases

Compared with pests, its diseases occur more frequently, so we will mainly introduce this aspect.

The first disease is called "root rot," which is a disease we are relatively familiar with. It is mainly caused by too much water in the pot or by pathogens invading through wounds on the roots during transplanting due to carelessness, and its symptoms may appear on the leaves, such as yellowing leaves or failure to grow new leaves. To deal with this disease, first of all, we must pay special attention during transplanting. If there are rotten parts on the roots, these parts need to be cut off, and some fungicide should be applied to the wound surface for sterilization. Also, pay attention to the amount of watering and do not let too much water accumulate in the potting soil.

The second disease is called "sunscald," and from its name we can infer that it is caused by excessive light. This disease mainly occurs in summer, and when it occurs, its leaves turn yellow over a large area. For this type of disease, the solution is relatively simple: provide the plant with appropriate shading and cut off the yellowed leaves.

The third disease is "anthracnose," which mainly occurs in very humid seasons. To prevent and control this disease, we can spray some carbendazim. In addition, we should remove diseased leaves and dead leaves and burn them. Also, ventilation and light penetration are very important.

Pests

One relatively common pest is the "soft-bodied snail," which gnaws on the leaves of this plant and also causes its leaves to grow crooked. To deal with this pest, you first need to know that they like humid environments. Therefore, in the evening when it is dark and humid, we can concentrate on catching and killing them, or spray some chemicals to kill them.
