Proper watering of orchids in landscaping should be moderate
Garden Seedling Network shares knowledge, seedling section:
Watering orchids is a routine task and an important part of whether orchid cultivation succeeds. The potting soil of orchids should be kept consistently moist, but excessive water content should be avoided. In cultivation, the amount of watering should be determined according to the different seasons and the different growth stages of the orchid. Generally starting in spring, as the temperature rises, orchids enter a vigorous growth period, and the amount of watering should be gradually increased, watering once every 1 to 2 days; in summer, when the temperature is high and orchids are also in their vigorous growth period, it is usually advisable to water once each in the early morning and in the evening, and watering at noon should be strictly avoided. When the rainy season arrives, the amount of watering should be flexibly controlled according to how much rain there is and how damp the potting soil is, and waterlogging in the pot that causes root rot should be strictly avoided; in late autumn, when the temperature begins to drop, the amount of watering should be gradually reduced, and watering once every 2 to 3 days is sufficient;
In winter, when the temperature is low, most orchids enter a dormant period, and watering should be controlled at this time, with watering once every 5 to 7 days; only the Cymbidium sinense and Cymbidium kanran that bloom in winter should be watered somewhat more.
