What are the methods for obtaining superior seeds of the clivia (Clivia miniata)

To obtain superior seeds of the clivia, artificial cross-pollination must be used, that is, cross-pollination between different cultivars or between different plants of the same cultivar. The specific method is as follows:
First select cultivars with good overall traits as the male and female parents. When the flower has been open for 2-3 days, the stamen anthers split lengthwise and expose yellow pollen; at this time use a brush to tap the male parent's pollen into a glass container, cover it with a glass lid and set it aside for later use. Then, when the female parent's flower has been open for 2-3 days and mucus appears on the stigma, this is the best time to pollinate; the pollination time can be chosen at 9-11 in the morning or at 13 in the afternoon. Use a new soft brush to dip up the prepared stamen pollen grains and gently smear them on the stigma. To increase the fruit-setting rate of pollination, pollination can be carried out 2 times in succession. Then hang on a label, writing the names of the male and female parents and the number of pollinations. If the number of clivia plants being cultivated is not many, you can also pluck off the anthers with tweezers and directly apply the pollen to the pistil stigma; this is called the direct pollination method. Once pollination succeeds, after 7-8 months the fruit will mature. For harvesting clivia, you can cut off the fruit cluster when the fruit is slightly red, tie it with string and hang it upside down in a cool, ventilated place for several days. When the fruit turns deep red, peel off the seed coat and at the same time carry out seed selection, keeping the superior seeds that are plump and normally developed; these seeds can be sown after being dried for 2-3 days.
