Huangguolan and bailanhua are the same flower, so there is no difference between them; one is simply another name for it. It is an evergreen tree with dark green leaves, and it blooms from April to September in summer and autumn, with white flowers. It likes to grow in sunny spots, has moderate water requirements, and can only grow at suitable temperatures.

1. What is the difference

Huangguolan and bailanhua are the same flower, so there is no difference between them; one is simply another name for it. It is an evergreen tree that can reach a height of about 10 m and is often used as a street tree. Its branches extend and spread outward, the trunk is about 30 cm in diameter, and the outer bark is gray. The leaves are thinly leathery, oblong in shape, and dark green. The flowers are white and have a pleasant fragrance; the flowering period is from April to September in summer and autumn and lasts a fairly long time.

2. Growing habits

It likes to grow in sunny spots and cannot lack sunlight during growth. It can only grow at suitable temperatures; it is afraid of high-temperature environments and cannot endure cold climates, growing best in warm environments. It has moderate water requirements and cannot tolerate drought, but too much water should not be given either, as it is prone to root rot when waterlogged.

3. The difference from huanglan

Although huangguolan and bailanhua are the same, bailan and huanglan are different; huanglan and huangguolan are often confused because of their names. The difference is mainly in flower color: the flowers of bailan are pure white, while those of huanglan are yellow.
