What problems are easily overlooked in sow management

After a sow gives birth, it needs to be managed well; this is a very important process, and if it is not managed well, the problems can be quite serious. There are many issues in this stage of management that are easily overlooked by everyone, and the following situations need to be taken seriously.

1. Sow disinfection

Sows themselves are not very clean. After giving birth, they will live directly with the piglets. If no disinfection or sterilization treatment is done, some of the pathogens they carry may be transmitted to the piglets, increasing the incidence rate among the piglets. Before farrowing, the sow needs to be disinfected once and then moved to the farrowing area. After farrowing, it is best to simply wash the sow and then wipe her body with disinfectant medication. This forms a simple disinfection process and safeguards the piglets. Without this, the incidence rate among piglets carried by the sow will be noticeably higher, so everyone should not neglect it.

2. Insufficient milk

Sows generally give birth to quite a few piglets, so the problem of milk supply is actually quite common, but farmers often overlook the problem of insufficient milk because they see the piglets all nursing. It is one thing for the piglets to get milk, and another whether it is enough. Piglets with insufficient milk grow very slowly. For some piglets that are obviously growing slowly, pay special attention and check the sow's milk supply, and supplement feed as appropriate. Also pay attention to piglets that are nursing all the time; this may mean the sow's milk supply is insufficient.

3. Temperature fluctuations

Sows and piglets have different temperature needs. Sows do not like high temperatures very much, as this affects their normal eating and recovery, while piglets prefer high temperatures because their ability to resist cold is insufficient. So at this stage, everyone needs to control the temperature well and choose a point relatively suitable for both. If the indoor temperature changes frequently, everyone should take it seriously. This is something extremely taboo after a sow gives birth, and it has a relatively large impact on both the sow and the piglets, leading to weakness in the sow and death of piglets.

4. Insufficient nursing knowledge

There is a lot of knowledge about sow care, and many aspects also affect the future, so it is better for everyone to master a bit more. Many people do not know what the sow's various reactions during this period represent, and then keep making taboo mistakes. When problems arise, they also do not know some basic preventive measures, and by the time losses come, regret is too late. When there is time, farmers should still learn more about this information and see how to raise sows better, so that future returns can also be higher.

The above are some easily overlooked problems in sow management. Farming is not an easy thing, especially for sows, which require careful attention to raise well. So put in a bit more effort to protect your own interests.
