How to make clivia blooms vivid

Key care points for making clivia blooms vivid: ① Temperature. In winter, place it indoors in a sunny spot; it can survive the winter at around 5°C. In spring, summer, and autumn, it can be placed in a ventilated spot near an indoor window. In spring and autumn, give it weak sunlight; in summer, protect it from direct sunlight or move it under a shade shed outdoors.

② Watering. Clivia should be watered at the right time and in the right amount. Because clivia has fleshy roots, it fears both dryness and waterlogging. During the spring and autumn growing seasons, the soil should be kept moist, slightly damp; during the winter dormant period, the soil should be slightly on the dry side to prevent root rot; in the hot summer weather, you can gently wipe the leaf surfaces with clean water in the early morning or evening each day, and spray water on the ground around the flower pot to keep the environment cool.

③ Fertilizing. Clivia is best given light fertilizer frequently. During the spring and autumn growing seasons, apply a light nitrogen-based fertilizer once a week to promote the growth of branches and leaves; 2-3 months before flowering, apply a light phosphorus-based fertilizer once a week to help the flower buds develop; in midsummer and winter, depending on the plant's growth, apply little or no fertilizer.

④ Potting soil. The potting soil for clivia should be loose, fertile, and well-draining, and must never become waterlogged. Large clivia plants are generally repotted and given fresh soil once every 2 years, preferably in spring after flowering or in autumn.
