What should be noted when repotting a clivia?
(1) Do not water before repotting; let the potting soil dry out appropriately, so the root ball comes out intact easily. If it has just been watered, it is not suitable for repotting, as the root ball is easily broken apart.
(2) Do not remove too much of the old soil, as this easily damages the fibrous roots.
(3) Turn the original pot upside down and let the soil ball and the plant come out together; keep the soil ball as intact as possible to protect the roots inside it. Never pull or
dig the original plant out of the pot, as this damages the roots and hinders rapid growth after repotting.
(4) When repotting, if the edge of the pot is full of new white roots, the plant can be moved intact into a larger pot. For certain precious fleshy-rooted plant species, such as orchids, peonies and clivias, the roots should first be cleaned and dried in the shade after repotting, and then potted up.
(5) Repotting can be combined with division propagation at the same time.
