What are the essentials for growing the large-flowered clivia

① It is best to propagate in early spring in conjunction with repotting, using division and sowing methods.

② The potting soil should be prepared with 80{bf} leaf mold plus 20{bf} river sand, with a small amount of bone meal or cake fertilizer added as a base fertilizer.

③ In spring and autumn give half-light; in summer place it in a ventilated, cool spot with scattered light; in winter place it indoors in a spot with ample sunlight for care. Every 7~10 days the flower pot needs to be turned 180 degrees.

④ Keep the potting soil moist at all times, watering when the potting soil is half dry.

⑤ In spring apply 1 time every 10~14 days a dilute liquid fertilizer mainly of nitrogen fertilizer. In summer usually no fertilizer is applied, and the leaves need to be sprayed with water frequently. When the flower stalk is emerging, apply 1 time per week a thin fertilizer mainly of phosphorus fertilizer, to help the stalk shoot up and promote large flowers and vivid colors.

⑥ In winter the room temperature should be kept above 5°C for it to overwinter safely, and keep the potting soil slightly dry.

⑦ Repot 1 time every two years, best done in spring after flowering or in autumn.
