What are the propagation methods for short-leaf clivia?

Short-leaf clivia (Clivia miniata) mainly has two propagation methods: division and sowing. For division, you need to wait until the leaves of the offsets growing from the base of the mother plant reach 10-15 cm, then cut them off together with their roots and plant them in new soil. For sowing, you need to first prepare the seeds, then bury them in the soil with the rounded side facing up, water them at the right time, and wait for them to sprout.
I. Division propagation
1. Timing: It can be divided after growing for about two years, and this can be done in all four seasons, but spring from February to May and autumn from September to November are the most suitable.
2. Method: Some offsets will grow from the base of the mother plant. When their leaves reach 10-15 cm, use a sharp blade to cut them off from the mother plant together with their roots and plant them in flower soil with relatively good air permeability. Spread clean river sand all around their roots, and place them in a spot with relatively soft light. Cover the plants with a transparent bag, and spray water on them at the right time to keep the soil at 50% moisture. After about 20-25 days, new roots will grow.
3. Care of the mother plant: After division, it is recommended to apply wood ash to the wound of the mother plant, and reduce watering and increase fertilization in the following month to help it recover.
II. Sowing propagation
1. Timing: Sowing can also be done in all four seasons, mainly determined by the time the seeds are harvested. After the seeds are harvested, it is best to sow them immediately, because the seeds have not yet shriveled and will sprout very quickly.
2. Method: Place the seeds with the rounded side facing up, evenly on the surface of humus soil, then cover them with a layer of sandy soil, with a thickness of one times the seed diameter being best. Then spray the loam soil wet, and cover it with a layer of transparent glass to maintain humidity. After that, place it in a ventilated and shady place, water appropriately to keep the flower soil slightly moist, and wait for germination.
