How to Grow Clivia Seedlings

Clivia seedlings need appropriate shading and indirect light. When it comes to watering, pay extra attention: judge the frequency and amount of water based on the condition of the potting soil. The demand for nutrients is not high, so apply foliar fertilizer appropriately, and keep the concentration low. The ideal temperature range is 15-30°C. The requirements for potting soil are relatively high: it should be neither too coarse nor too fine.

1. Moderate Shading

Because seedlings cannot withstand scorching sun exposure, they must not be exposed to direct light. However, they do need a certain amount of light, so appropriate shading and indirect light are sufficient.

2. Watering Must Be Moderate

When it comes to watering, you must pay extra attention: you cannot neglect it, nor can you overwater to the point of waterlogging. Judge the frequency and amount of water based on the condition of the potting soil. You can replace part of the root watering by misting water, spraying directly at the leaves, which both replenishes moisture and cleans the leaves.

3. Moderate Nutrients

During the seedling stage, the demand for nutrients is not high, so apply foliar fertilizer appropriately. The concentration should be lower and must not be too high. Too high a concentration easily puts stress on the plant, and in severe cases can burn the root system.

4. Temperature Must Be Controlled

For young seedlings, the temperature requirements are somewhat higher. The ideal temperature range is 15-30°C; within this range, they are easiest to care for and grow, and going beyond this range will affect growth.

5. Choosing Potting Soil

The requirements for potting soil are relatively high: it should be neither too coarse nor too fine, but moderately textured.
