Planting time for Clivia seeds

Planting Clivia should be done when the weather is warm; you can sow in spring and summer. In southern regions it can be done in March, while in northern regions it can be delayed until April. When planting, you should choose fresh seeds, place them in warm water to sprout, and prepare a suitable acidic substrate for its growth. With the small eye of the seed facing downward, sow it into the soil, cover with soil, and place it in a ventilated spot.

I. Planting time

When planting Clivia seeds, try to choose the warm periods of spring and summer. In southern regions it can be done in March of spring, while in northern regions it can be a bit later, sowing around April. However, the climate varies in each region, so the specific time will also differ; as long as the temperature is not particularly low, it is fine.

II. Planting method

1. Seed selection: Wait until the color of the fruit skin turns blackish-purple, cut it off, and then wait about half a month to take out the seeds. Fresh, plump seeds are the first choice for planting; such seeds have a relatively higher germination rate.

2. Sprouting: Put the selected seeds into 30° warm water and soak for about half an hour. After removing them, soak them in nutrient solution for another half an hour, which makes them easier to sprout.

3. Substrate: Before planting, prepare a slightly acidic substrate with sufficiently good air permeability. After disinfecting, put it into a pot, soak it thoroughly with water, and then level it out.

3. Sowing: Sow the seeds into the substrate with the small eye facing downward, then cover with 2-3cm of soil. After sowing, water it thoroughly and place it in a ventilated spot.
