How do you use alcohol to treat soft rot in potted orchids?

Orchid soft rot is a headache for today's orchid growers: the practical experience of orchid growers in Zhuji in using alcohol to treat soft rot has great value for wider adoption. The specific steps are as follows.
(1) Prepare the supplies. Buy quintozene and 75% medical alcohol for later use.
(2) Cut away the diseased shoots. As soon as an orchid is found to have soft rot, immediately cut off the diseased shoots right at the pseudobulb, keeping only the pseudobulb. Do not water the dry pot again,
(3) Inject alcohol into the pseudobulb. Push aside the potting medium around the pseudobulb to expose the whole pseudobulb. With a 5 ml syringe, draw up the alcohol and inject it beside the pseudobulb; you can also insert the needle into the pseudobulb to inject, letting it overflow naturally; after 2 hours the alcohol will evaporate away.
(4) Apply quintozene to the pseudobulb. Sprinkle 3-5 g of quintozene dry powder onto the pseudobulb, cover it with potting medium to further sterilize.
(5) Points to note. After applying quintozene to the pseudobulb, do not water and do not divide the plants for 3 days. After that, normal care is all that is needed.
After this treatment, the affected pseudobulb generally shrivels as the alcohol evaporates, while the remaining orchid shoots remain safe and sound.
