Key points of black carp breeding knowledge

As one of the four major Chinese carps, black carp is raised by quite a few people, and many high-quality farmers share their breeding experience with everyone so that this industry can develop better. So what are the key points of knowledge when raising black carp? Let's take a look below so you can raise black carp better.

1. Breeding water depth

Water depth is very important for fish. Fish are divided by water depth into deep-water fish and shallow-water fish, and black carp leans toward being a shallow-water fish, so the pond for raising black carp generally does not need to be very deep. Black carp are normally active at a depth of about 1.5-2.5 m, and if the water is deeper, black carp basically will not go down; secondly, the water temperature at this depth is also more suitable for black carp to survive, as they will neither be frozen nor easily exposed to the sun. When building a breeding pond, a depth around this level is about right. Many farmers whose breeding pond water depth is insufficient end up with basically unsatisfactory black carp growth.

2. Breeding density

The density of black carp breeding is very important. Generally speaking, black carp breeding requires mixed culture, because raising black carp alone is not profitable enough. Black carp itself is a fish species that grows relatively large, so its density is not very high. Generally, the black carp fry in one mu of pond are controlled at about 200-300 fish, and then some silver carp, common carp, bighead carp and other fish species are mixed in, with numbers ranging from several hundred fish. In addition, the mixed fish must be smaller than the black carp, so as to avoid the black carp being harmed by the mixed fish species.

3. Breeding time

The breeding time for black carp is relatively long. Unlike other fish species, which can be harvested in a few months or at most one year, black carp relies on body weight as its advantage, and growing to more than ten or twenty jin is relatively easy. Generally, raising black carp takes about 2-3 years before they can be sold. This is something farmers must pay more attention to. Many people habitually raise black carp like other varieties of fish and sell them early. Black carp with small weight do not have much advantage, because many fish are more popular than small black carp, so the breeding time must be sufficient; do not neglect this.

4. Aquatic environment

Some people habitually ignore the fish's growth environment, but this does not work for black carp. Black carp need attention paid to the aquatic environment, because they will grow here for several years, and if the aquatic environment is poor, black carp basically will not grow much. In addition to good water quality and water circulation, the disinfection and hygiene of the pond must also be up to standard, otherwise black carp will be relatively prone to disease. When the aquatic environment is poor, black carp will choose to live closer to the upper water surface, and eventually die because they cannot adapt to the growth environment above.

The above are some key points of knowledge for black carp breeding. If you want to raise black carp well, everyone still needs to pay more attention. This kind of breeding is already quite time-consuming, and if problems arise later because these key points of knowledge were not paid attention to, it would be a big loss.
