How to Improve the Reproductive Capacity of Breeding Rabbits

Breeding rabbits reproduce very quickly, but breeding rabbits raised in captivity may be somewhat weaker in terms of reproduction and not quite ideal. Especially after comparing reproductive results with other people's breeding rabbits, many people are eager to improve their own breeding rabbits' reproductive capacity. Let's take a look below at how to improve it!

1. Selection of Breeding Rabbits

At the beginning, few of the breeding rabbits selected are all suitable, and during the raising process there will always be some unsuitable ones, so at this point screening should begin. Breeding rabbits are generally good in appearance, and when screening, the main thing to select by is their living habits. If appetite is poor, condition is poor, and they have a long-term habit of not fitting in with the group, then ones like these need more attention to see whether they should be culled. In order to have enough breeding rabbits after screening, it is best to prepare some reserve breeding rabbits so that after screening the overall number can be replenished in time, which can to a certain extent raise the starting point of the breeding rabbits in the early stage.

2. Targeted Feeding

The feeding of breeding rabbits differs somewhat from that of meat rabbits, so do not apply meat rabbit farming methods to breeding rabbits; appropriate adjustments must be made. Adjustments in feeding mainly include feeding frequency and variety. As for frequency, eat small meals more often, so that breeding rabbits can absorb nutrients quickly and be more energetic. Once rabbits are full, they basically do not want to move around, and eating too much at one time is not good for the health of breeding rabbits and also affects reproductive efficiency. As for adjustments in variety, the main focus is nutritional balance, mainly adding some foods beneficial to reproduction, and using food to stimulate the movement of breeding rabbits so as to maintain their physical vitality.

3. Implement a Culling System

The reproduction of rabbits will gradually decline due to various reasons, and the corresponding culling mechanism must also be improved accordingly. Breeding rabbits whose physical functions have deteriorated are not suitable for continued breeding, because they will also affect the rabbits born afterward. Record the data after each breeding session. If subsequent reproduction is still poor, and the degree of decline in daily performance compared with relatively high-quality breeding rabbits is obvious, then they basically need to be culled. When new breeding rabbits are added, do not choose the estrus period; it is best to raise them together for a period of time first, so that the rabbit group is less likely to show rejection.

4. Improve the Mating Method

There are many mating methods for rabbits, and improving methods in this area is very important, so that a more effective and more currently suitable mating method can be obtained. When improving these methods, the main focus is on two aspects: first, how to more effectively increase the success rate of fertilization in breeding rabbits; second, how to extend the estrus time of breeding rabbits. If both aspects are done well, then this mating method will definitely not be bad.

The above are some methods for improving the reproductive capacity of breeding rabbits. Rabbits themselves are not among the strongly reproductive types, but as long as other aspects are properly adapted so that breeding rabbits have a better environment for reproduction, I believe the final results will be relatively ideal.
