How to plant Clivia seeds? Methods and precautions for soaking and sowing them promptly

Clivia is an especially popular potted plant. Its leaves unfold one by one like a large fan, and sometimes a little orange flower blooms in the middle, which is very pleasing to the eye. So many flower lovers also buy some Clivia seeds to grow at home. So what are the methods and precautions for planting Clivia seeds?
1. After soaking Clivia seeds, choose acidic soil for planting
Some of us flower lovers are especially handy, so we want to take part in the whole process of Clivia from seed to flowering to fruiting, which means starting from planting the seeds. Actually, the method of planting Clivia seeds is not particularly difficult, so what is the method of planting Clivia seeds?
1. Seed selection
To grow Clivia, the first step is seed selection. So how do you judge the quality of Clivia from the fruit and seeds? What kind of seeds should be chosen? When we see the skin of the Clivia fruit change from green to red or brownish red, press it with your hand. If the fruit begins to soften and the fruit skin and seeds have begun to separate, it means the seeds are mature and it is time to harvest. At this point, the seeds inside the fruit can be taken out.
2. Soaking the seeds
The seed coat of Clivia is extremely tough and not easy for water to penetrate, so before planting we must soak it. This step is a very important one among the methods and precautions for planting Clivia seeds. Only in this way can the seeds sprout smoothly afterward. We can use warm boiled water at about 40°C, put the seeds in and soak them for 24-36 hours, then take them out and plant them.
3. Choosing soil
Clivia seeds are suitable for planting in slightly acidic soil, with a pH value of 6-6.5 being appropriate. The most common surface soil from woodland in our daily life, soil with sufficient humus, is fine, and then put one third clean fine sand into it. Following these steps, roots generally grow in 15-20 days.
2. Clivia seeds should be sown promptly
When planting Clivia seeds, it is not enough just to master its cultivation method. We also need to understand the precautions when planting the seeds, so that we can grow a perfect pot of Clivia. So what are the precautions for growing Clivia seeds?
1. Choose seeds from the mother plant
If we buy Clivia seeds from outside, we must be sure to choose seeds that have just been taken from the mother plant. How do you select Clivia seeds? Generally, choose mature seed bulbs that are spherical with a raised top, and it is best to choose seeds that are plump, glossy, and have a clearly protruding embryo eye. Otherwise, the germination capacity of the seeds will be very weak.
2. Sow promptly
After choosing Clivia seeds, we must sow them promptly. If they are not sown promptly, the germination rate of the seeds after storage will clearly decrease, and then naturally we will not be able to grow very good Clivia. If we cannot sow them promptly, then choose a plastic bag with good sealing and put them in it, and store them under ventilated conditions at a temperature of 4-10°C, which is best.
3. Temperature choice
As long as we follow the care methods for Clivia seeds, they will sprout. But the time of sprouting will also change with these factors. Clivia seeds are suitable for sprouting at a temperature of about 32°C. Below this temperature, sprouting will be noticeably slower, and below 10°C sprouting will stop, so attention should be paid to temperature in this respect.
