What to do when orchids do not bloom for years

Internal causes of orchids not blooming for years: (1) The root system is not well developed and the plant is not robust. In this case, strengthen fertilizer and water management so that the orchid's root system is both numerous and long, healthy and disease-free, so it can absorb more nutrients and lay a good foundation for blooming.

(2) Planting as single plants: orchids "like to grow in clusters and fear being separated from the mother," so when dividing plants, try not to plant them as single plants.

External causes of orchids not blooming for years: (1) Insufficient light: in winter and spring, give full light; in summer and autumn, provide half shade.

(2) Insufficient fertilization before blooming: apply enough phosphorus fertilizer 5 months before blooming, preferably fertilizers such as Hyponex No. 3, borax, and monopotassium phosphate.

(3) Insufficient watering: in autumn, if the potting soil is too dry, it hinders the accumulation of nutrients in the orchid, seriously affecting the next year's sprouting and blooming. Therefore, in autumn, pay proper attention to watering and do not let the potting soil become too dry.

(4) Pests and diseases: promptly prevent and eliminate pests and diseases.
