What to Do When the White Orchid Tree Has Few Leaves and Flowers?

① Soil. Use fertile, loose, well-drained, slightly acidic soil, such as leaf mold or a mix of garden soil with 1/5 vinegar residue.

② Fertilizer. Add a small amount of decomposed organic fertilizer when planting. During the peak growing season (May to September), apply a dilute, fully decomposed organic fertilizer once every other week. If yellow leaves appear during cultivation, spray the leaves with a 0.1{bf} ferrous sulfate solution once a week for 3 consecutive sprays.

③ Watering. Keep the soil consistently moist, but not too wet, and do not let it dry out. In hot weather, mist the leaves and surrounding area frequently to raise air humidity. In winter, reduce watering and wipe the leaves with clean water at room temperature.

④ Light. It needs plenty of light; provide light shade around midday during hot weather.

⑤ Temperature. In winter, keep the temperature at around 12°C, and keep the nighttime temperature above 5°C.

⑥ Repotting. Repot once every other year, preferably in early spring.

⑦ Pruning. Along with repotting, prune away dead, weak, and pest-damaged branches as appropriate, but do not prune the roots. Each year in early spring, when the white orchid tree is moved back outdoors, and after flowering, remove the lower old leaves.
