What should beginners pay attention to when raising scorpions?

Raising scorpions is quite profitable, which is why many people choose it. But raising insects like scorpions is not simple; it is a fairly meticulous farming project, and for beginners there are many issues to watch out for when raising them. Let's take a look below at the main issues to pay attention to.

1. Temperature management

The scorpion is a creature that prefers mild conditions and is very sensitive to temperature. If the temperature drops slightly, they will choose to go dormant, or their activity level will be very low. When raising scorpions, only when they are active can they grow quickly, so the daily temperature of the scorpion enclosure is recommended to be kept at around 25°C, and try not to let it go above 35°C, so that the scorpions will basically be at their most vigorous stage. If the temperature is higher than that, it can easily cause scorpion deaths. This is the first thing beginners should pay attention to: try to keep the temperature of the scorpion enclosure constant.

2. Environment

The environment of the breeding site is also one of the things to pay attention to. Scorpions are quite perceptive of sound and vibration and are extremely easily affected by these factors. If it lasts for a long time, the scorpions will stop eating. Generally, do not move the coverings inside the scorpion enclosure, as this will stimulate the scorpions; next, keep the site quiet. In addition, it is best to choose a somewhat dry place for the site. Although scorpions like dark environments, heavy moisture will increase their chance of illness.

3. Sufficient feed

Preparing feed is a key part of raising scorpions. One thing to avoid is having only a single type of feed; a single feed makes it very hard to raise scorpions well. Next, scorpions like fresh food, so when feeding, pay attention to the freshness of the feed. Generally speaking, yellow mealworms, ground beetles, cockroaches and so on are all food for scorpions, and scorpions also eat some raw meat. When hungry, scorpions may treat their own kind as food, so the feed must be prepared in sufficient quantity, otherwise you will lose some scorpions for nothing. If you need a large amount, you can consider raising these feeds yourself for convenient daily feeding.

4. Introduce breeding stock from nearby

Introducing breeding stock is a fairly important process for scorpions, and it is especially important for beginners. Many people run into problems with introducing breeding stock, and the most common problem is that the distance is too far when introducing them, so after bringing them back they suffer from not acclimating to the water and soil and die in batches. So the first key point of introducing breeding stock is to introduce them from nearby, which greatly reduces the chance of them failing to acclimate. Next, it is not recommended to use wild scorpions as breeding scorpions. After all, cultivating high-quality scorpion seedlings requires fairly high technical skill; besides being hard to control, wild scorpions offer no guarantee of quality, so beginners have no need to take this risk.

When raising scorpions, do not start with large-scale farming right away. It is recommended to first familiarize yourself with the raising process on a small scale, so that you have time both to learn about market conditions and to study raising techniques, and the risk is relatively smaller. For the farming industry, stability means profit, especially since the initial investment in scorpions is not small either.
