Can orchids be left outdoors in light rain?
Growing plants outdoors is a very good thing, because outdoor light and ventilation are great and very suitable for growing plants, but what should you do when it rains? Everyone knows that watering flowers with rainwater is better than tap water, but is it okay to leave them in the rain for a long time? If it is drizzling, is it okay to leave orchids outdoors the whole time?
Actually, it is okay. It was said before that watering plants with rainwater is much better than tap water, so during light rain, it is fine to move plants outdoors. Not only orchids, but other plants too. However, note that if you watered them before it rained, do not take them out again, because too much moisture can easily cause waterlogged soil.
If an orchid has not been watered and encounters light rain, it can be moved outdoors, but do not leave it too long. Once you feel its soil is already soaked through, it is better to move it back to a spot where it will not get rained on. If the light rain falls for a while and then stops, you can leave it in that spot the whole time, because some moisture on the leaves has not dried yet. Keep it outdoors to let it dry, and only then move it back indoors. If the moisture in the leaves has not dried and you take it back indoors, the moisture in the leaves may not be able to dry, causing the leaves to rot.
So by now you should already know whether it can be left in the rain. As long as it is not left in the rain for long, it is fine, but after the rain, pay attention to ventilation and dry the moisture in the leaves as soon as possible.
