How to fertilize orchids with sheep manure

There are mainly three ways to fertilize orchids with sheep manure. For newly planted orchid seedlings, you can mix it into the growing medium so it can take effect. For plants that have already been established, you can shallowly bury it in the potting soil to let it release nutrients. In addition, you can also dissolve and dilute it, then use a syringe to inject it into the potting soil.

1. Sheep manure can be used as fertilizer

Using sheep manure as fertilizer for orchids is very suitable. Sheep manure has another name, "Bai Cao Dan" (elixir of a hundred herbs), which shows that it is quite suitable for use as fertilizer. There are many benefits to using sheep manure. Fertilizers generally sold on the market, whether inorganic fertilizers or commercial fertilizers, are sometimes inconvenient to use, and some have incomplete nutrition.

Sheep manure, however, is rich in organic matter and fibrous substances. Not only does it contain many kinds of nutrients, but its carbon-to-nitrogen ratio is also the most suitable. Moreover, it can be regarded as a slow-release fertilizer, with a long-lasting fertilizer effect, and it will not cause fertilizer burn. It plays an irreplaceable role in the growth and flowering of orchids.

2. How to use sheep manure

(1) If the orchid has just been planted, you can mix sheep manure into the growing medium. One handful of sheep manure per plant is enough.

(2) If the orchid has already been established, you can dig open a section of soil, then bury a handful of sheep manure in it. However, do not bury it too deep; shallow burial is enough.

(3) In addition, besides mixing it directly into the soil, it can also be soaked in water and finally made into liquid fertilizer. This method also works well and can promote rapid growth of the plant. However, when using it, it must first be diluted, then injected into the soil with a syringe.
