Emergency tips for a clivia stuck arrow

If you want the clivia to shoot its arrow quickly, you need to change the temperature difference in the environment. You can first place it in a cool air-conditioned spot for a while, then move it to a warmer spot with bright, indirect light. You can also spray a quick-acting liquid fertilizer on the leaves, or dilute beer and water the roots with it, or tie the clivia's leaves together with fine string. All of these can make the clivia shoot its arrow quickly.

1. Change the temperature difference

If you want the flower arrow to grow out quickly, we can use the temperature difference method. First place the clivia in a cool environment, preferably somewhere with air conditioning, and after waiting 12 hours, move the clivia to a slightly warmer environment. This method of changing the day-night temperature difference can make the flower arrow grow out quickly.

2. Supplement with phosphorus and potassium fertilizer

If a clivia lacks nutrient fertilizer for a long time, the stuck arrow phenomenon will occur. When the flower arrow has grown somewhat, we can evenly spray a quick-acting liquid fertilizer on the leaves, or apply some fertilizer containing phosphorus and potassium to the soil. Supplementing sufficient nutrients will help the clivia shoot its arrow.

3. Water the roots with beer

Watering the roots with beer is the most effective method, but you cannot pour beer directly into the soil. You need to first mix the beer with clean water at a ratio of 1:10, so that the alcohol in the beer is diluted to a suitable concentration. After waiting about 5 days, the clivia will shoot its arrow.

4. Tie the leaves

Use fine string to tie the clivia's leaves on both sides separately, then place it in a spot with bright, indirect light. After 3 days it will shoot its arrow. However, during the tying process you must be careful and gentle to avoid injuring the 6 leaves, and try to keep the indoor temperature at around 20°C, otherwise too high a temperature is not good for the flower arrow to develop buds and bloom.
