How to make clivia shoot up flower stalks quickly; moving it to a dark environment is the most common method

Sometimes when we grow clivia at home, we always run into the problem of it not blooming, so many people want to make clivia shoot up flower stalks quickly. Actually, the method is not difficult: just place the clivia in a dark environment, control the temperature and continue caring for it, and you can also use methods such as alcohol, soaking in warm water and watering with hot water, all of which are very effective.

Methods to make clivia shoot up flower stalks quickly

1. Block out light

Making clivia shoot up flower stalks quickly is actually not difficult. You can move it to a dark environment with no light to grow it, while keeping the temperature between 18°C and 28°C, separate the overlapping leaves of the plant, and continue caring for it for 3 days, and you will find that it slowly grows flower stalks. This method is often used by flower growers who cultivate clivia now; it is both fast and convenient.

2. Stimulate with alcohol

In fact, watering clivia with alcohol can also stimulate it to produce flower stalks. Whether you use baijiu or beer, as long as it contains alcohol and you control the amount used, it can be effective. If you use baijiu, generally about 30 ml is enough; then mix and dilute it with clean water at a ratio of 1:5, pour it on the roots of the clivia, and after waiting about a week it can shoot up flower stalks.

3. Soak in warm water

Usually, clivia is more likely to shoot up stalks when there is a large temperature difference. Choose a time when the weather is warm, place the potted clivia in water at about 40°C, wait until the flower pot becomes warm and then move it to the balcony; after the plant recovers, continue soaking it. After repeating this several times, it will quickly grow flower stalks.

4. Water with hot water

If you are afraid of trouble, there is another more convenient and quicker method, which is to water the clivia with hot water. The water temperature should be controlled at 45°C. Pour the hot water into the soil every morning, once every other day, and water it thoroughly. After about half a month, it will shoot up flower stalks. However, when using this method you must be careful not to sprinkle the hot water directly on the plant, so as to avoid harming it.
