Reasons for Yellowing Leaves on Orange Jessamine and How to Fix It

What to Do When Orange Jessamine Leaves Turn Yellow?

If alkaline soil is causing the yellowing of orange jessamine, drip ferrous sulfate solution into the soil; if the light is too strong or there is too little light, adjust the lighting; if the plant lacks water or has been overwatered, control the moisture in the potting soil so it stays moist but not waterlogged; if the temperature is too low, raise the temperature of the orange jessamine's growing environment; if it lacks fertilizer, add fertilizer; if too much fertilizer has been applied, water the plant to dilute the fertilizer.

1. Acidify the Soil

Orange jessamine does not like growing in alkaline soil. If it is grown in clay and alkaline soil, the leaves are prone to turning yellow. Therefore, to grow orange jessamine, use slightly acidic sandy loam for cultivation. Dripping ferrous sulfate solution into the soil can also make the soil acidic.

2. Adjust the Lighting Orange jessamine needs fairly abundant light to grow. If it lacks light for a long time, its leaves will turn yellow and soft. Move it to a spot with ample light for care. In summer, when the temperature and light are too strong, pay attention to shading, as direct strong light will cause yellow spots on the leaf surface.

3. Control Moisture

Orange jessamine needs fairly abundant moisture to grow. If it lacks water for a long time, it will become dehydrated and the whole plant will turn withered and yellow, so replenish water in time. When watering, do not overdo it either; if excessive water accumulates, drain the standing water in time and also let the potting soil dry out.

4. Raise the Temperature In winter, when the temperature is too low, orange jessamine cannot grow normally. When the temperature is below 10°C, its leaves will turn yellow. Of course, this is normal winter dormancy, but you can also prevent yellow leaves by raising the temperature. Simply move the orange jessamine to an indoor room with heating or keep it in an insulated shed for care.

5. Fertilize in Time

If the orange jessamine shows weak branches, few leaves, and accompanying yellow leaves, it means the plant is lacking nutrients. In this case, fertilize it in time. When fertilizing, apply light fertilizer frequently, and do not apply too much at once, otherwise the roots are easily burned. If too much fertilizer has been applied, water the plant to dilute the fertilizer.
