How to use the needle-pricking method to make white orchids bloom

Pricking and piercing the new shoots of the white orchid (Michelia alba) can inhibit its vegetative growth and promote the differentiation and growth of flower buds. The specific method is:

Using a sewing needle or a pin, at 0.1-0.2 cm above the node of the first section at the top of the main shoot and side shoots, prick 1-2 needle holes that pierce through or do not pierce through, to break the growth dominance of the main and side terminal buds and inhibit the vertical growth of the main and side terminal buds. Then, at 0.1-0.2 cm below the bud of each node on the main and side shoots, prick one needle vertically and one crosswise, with the holes piercing through or not piercing through, so as to destroy and reduce the transport function of nutrients in the phloem moving downward, which helps break the vegetative growth dominance of the axillary buds. Due to the stimulation of the wound, the axillary buds may transform into flower buds, which can greatly accelerate flower bud differentiation, and can use the large leaves growing at that site to provide the necessary nutrients for flower bud growth, and can noticeably promote flower bud swelling. Generally, 20-30 days after pricking, flower buds with stalks can be seen developing in the leaf axils.
