A detailed guide to peace lily propagation methods, teaching you to easily grow new plants
The peace lily (Spathiphyllum) has become a new-generation indoor potted plant in recent years. It is distributed throughout various regions of our country, has relatively high ornamental value, and is also welcomed by many people. Therefore, its planting area in our country is currently very large, and when we grow peace lilies, propagation is something we need to pay special attention to. So how should peace lilies be propagated? Below, the editor brings you the propagation methods for peace lilies. Let's take a look together!

1. Division propagation
Generally, division propagation of peace lilies can be carried out throughout the year, but care should be taken to avoid periods of high and low temperatures. It is also best to carry it out from March to May, as the survival rate at this time needs to be high. First, select a high-quality two-year-old plant, then in early spring when the plant sprouts, dig out the plant completely. Clear the soil from the roots, and appropriately prune the rhizomes. Then cut the rhizomes apart from the base of the plant clump, keeping about 3 leaves per clump, and do not damage the roots. Then directly plant the divided plants, maintain a semi-shaded environment, and be sure to loosen the soil appropriately to improve soil permeability.
2. Seed propagation
Seed propagation first requires artificial pollination, and then the seed collection work should be done well. Before sowing, the soil should be exposed to the sun for disinfection to eliminate pathogens and pests in the soil. Then place the seeds in warm water at about 40 degrees for about 12 hours, then remove them and dry them for sowing. The sowing method is mainly hole sowing. After sowing, cover with a layer of fine soil, and control the temperature at about 26 degrees. They can sprout in about four weeks, but be sure to control the temperature well; if the temperature is too low, the seeds are very prone to rotting. However, because obtaining peace lily seeds is relatively troublesome, and it takes about three years to flower, seed propagation is not commonly used.
3. Tissue culture
Tissue culture is mainly widely used in large-scale propagation. It mainly propagates through explants such as the stem tips and leaves of peace lilies. First, soak the explants of the peace lily in alcohol for about half a minute, then place them in mercuric chloride for ten minutes for disinfection. Then place them in MS nutrient solution, and in about 40 days callus tissue and adventitious buds can be produced. Then use hormones to induce rooting. After rooting, cultivate for about one month, and when the height reaches about two cm, carry out hardening-off work to improve the adaptability of the seedlings. Finally, use fine sand and perlite to prepare a substrate for transplanting.
The above is a brief introduction to peace lily propagation methods. When propagating, everyone should choose a suitable propagation method according to their own planting scale, planting methods, and other actual conditions. That is all for today's introduction.
