Orchid
The so-called "three pots in one" cultivation method is to combine three flower pots of different sizes - large, medium and small - to cultivate orchids. The method is:
1. Choose one large tall-cylinder orchid pot, one No. 3 tall-cylinder orchid pot (use a pointed chisel to enlarge the bottom hole as much as possible), and one small clay pot the size of an eggshell.
2. First place the medium pot upside down into the large pot, aligning it with the drainage hole of the large pot, then place the small pot upside down over the drainage hole of the medium pot (the mouth diameter of the small pot should preferably be the same as the bottom of the medium pot. Its height is one quarter or one third of the medium pot). Then cover the bottom hole of the small pot with a small piece of window screen.
3. Beforehand, after the divided orchid or wild-collected orchid has been disinfected and the orchid roots have been dried in the shade, gently straighten the orchid roots and place them in a riding position on the small pot and medium pot (never break the orchid roots). Finally, gently pour the newly prepared growing medium around the orchid roots. After filling the growing medium, hold the pot with both hands and gently tap it on a wooden board to firm the contact between the growing medium and the orchid roots. Then spread a layer of white stones or coarse green moss on the surface of the pot soil to isolate the pot soil from contact with the orchid leaves, so as to avoid infection by pathogens in the soil.
4. If the growing medium for planting the orchid is wet, do not water it for the time being, and water again after 5 days; if the growing medium is dry, water immediately after planting, and water thoroughly. Then place the planted orchid in a ventilated, semi-shaded place and let it rest quietly for about half a month to one month before entering normal care.
The advantages of planting orchids with the "three pots in one" method are: 1. It greatly enhances the air permeability of the orchid roots. 2. Because the body of the orchid pot is hollow, in summer it can prevent the orchid roots from being scalded by high environmental temperatures. 3. Drainage is extremely strong, which is beneficial to the development and growth of orchid roots and orchid buds.
